Sustainable Coffee


In just a few days, the 4th World Coffee Conference will be happening in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Stakeholders in the coffee sector are convening to discuss issues and solutions that will shape the future of the coffee industry. Back in December 2015, Conservation International set out the ambitious call “to make coffee the first sustainable agricultural product in the world”. Working groups with representatives from major coffee companies and organizations have been working together to define and develop a common sustainability framework. Their initial definitions and plans are going to be announced at the conference.



To make sustainability efforts in an industry count, a commitment to practice from all players involved will be necessary. It will be exciting to see what the collective definition and plan will be for the coffee industry to have a common vision to join in and work towards. Needless to say, we are paying particular attention to this and looking forward to what they will unveil!
